“🤭” meaning: face with hand over mouth Emoji

This endearing character features a round, yellow face with smiling eyes, rosy cheeks, and one hand covering its mouth, as if trying to suppress a chuckle. Prior to the release of iOS 15.4 in March 2022, Apple's design featured round and open eyes, but this same update assigned Apple's original design to Emoji 14.0's new "Face with Open Eyes and Hand Over Mouth" emoji and brought a new design to 🤭, changing its open eyes to closed eyes. Other platforms have also modifided their design in this way.

The 🤭 captures the essence of a playful giggle, a cheeky snicker, or an embarrassed laugh. It is perfect for conveying a sense of amusement, mild embarrassment, or playful teasing. It can also lreflect a universal human expression of shyness or bashfulness.

🤭 looks very similar to 🫢, but they are different in usages. 🫢 is more often used to express shock, surprise, or embarrassment, as if you are saying "Oops!" or "Oh no!"

The emoji 🤭 was approved as part of Unicode 10.0 in 2017 and added to Emoji 5.0 in 2017.
