Setsubun (節分) means "seasonal division" and refers to the day before the beginning of each season, but now usually refers to the day just before the first day of spring in the old calendar. It is also called the Bean-Throwing Festival and is celebrated in Japan in February. People throw roasted soybeans to chase away the oni (Japanese devil) while shouting "Devils out! Fortune in!".
